Job description

Location: Saskatoon

The Kenan Advantage Group Inc., (KAG), is North America’s largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, delivering energy commodities, specialty products, merchant gases, and food products across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our Canadian Operating companies are Westcan Bulk Transport, RTL Construction, Les Distributions Carl Beaulac, and Fisher Transport – KAG Canada!

The Sales Manager’s primary objective is to grow revenue and build capacity within our trailing fleet, which serves the agriculture, mining, warehousing, construction, pulp and paper, and road maintenance sectors. This fleet is primarily domiciled in the Prairies. You’ll work with the sales team to increase hauling opportunities in existing operating areas, expand into new geographic markets, and develop new product opportunities across the industries we serve—while keeping fleet utilization high. This role is primarily inside sales, with occasional travel as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners and stay on top of all opportunities that may be an ongoing understanding of operations’ ability to take on new work and their timelines to respond, so that we are able to meet all commitments.
  • Ensure we have an accurate measure of capacity in all storage facilities, and provide oversight and execution of all contracts.
  • Stay informed of industry opportunities by participating in forums and receiving notifications to gather tenders. Review and collectively decide, in consultation with the team, on bid submissions.
  • Contact existing customers to obtain additional loads and optimize utilization of resources.
  • Cold-call new customers to gain additional business. Cold calling may include in-person visits.
  • Contact customers and other carriers daily to maximize fleet utilization, fill empty lanes, and ensure service expectations are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity within our CRM software (Salesforce).
  • Work with the sales team to secure the best possible rates per mile and with Terminal Managers to identify opportunities to fill traffic lanes.
  • Control distribution of loads by determining the number of orders that can be filled for a particular time period, and communicate commitments to the Logistics Teams.
  • Visit new pickup and delivery sites; ensure all information is gathered and communicated back to the team to set up in the system.
  • Prepare documents for seamless onboarding of new customers, including product loading and delivery instructions.
  • Work closely with the sales and quotation teams to develop a rate database for these business areas.
  • Invest time through ongoing reading, research, and relationship-building to understand the full cycle of these markets.
  • Understand trends, assess resource and people needs, and anticipate change.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, or forums to increase presence and build rapport.

Qualifications:

  • Considerable experience in transportation, with the ability to quickly learn our capacity, identify and pursue growth opportunities for KAG Canada.
  • Outstanding internal and external customer service skills.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.

Total Compensation:

  • Competitive wages, company-matched RRSP/DPSP savings program, bonus opportunity, and scholarship program for employees’ children.

We have a strong culture of teamwork, with a balance of seriousness and fun. If you want to contribute to KAG's excellent tradition of innovation and leadership in the logistics and transportation industry, we invite you to apply!

Please note, as a courtesy, we strongly encourage internal applicants to advise their immediate supervisor of their application for any position within the company.

External applicants in consideration will adhere to a company-paid criminal record search.

We are committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive culture where ALL employees and partners feel valued and appreciated for their uniqueness and contributions. We welcome applications from all interested individuals; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
