Job description

Company Information

Founded in 1972, Popeyes® has more than 40 years of history and culinary tradition. Popeyes® owes its beginnings to entrepreneur and culinary innovator, Al Copeland. With one small restaurant and a big idea, Copeland introduced the New Orleans–style fried chicken that has now made the brand famous throughout the world. Popeyes® culinary heritage is built upon the rich Cajun and creole flavor profiles that are unmistakably Louisiana.

We continuously draw upon and celebrate this heritage to inspire new, authentic menu creations the world craves. Popeyes distinguishes itself with a unique New Orleans style menu featuring spicy chicken, chicken tenders, fried shrimp and other regional items. This unique and flavorful food has allowed Popeyes to become one of the world’s largest chicken quick service restaurants, with over 2,700 restaurants in the U.S. and around the world.

By submitting this application, I acknowledge that most Popeyes® restaurants are independently owned and operated by franchisees. In this regard, I understand that I may be applying to a Popeyes® restaurant owned by a franchisee, and that any hiring decisions will be made by the franchisee. Accommodation is available upon request.

Description

As an Assistant Manager at Popeyes, you’ll support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, high-quality food, and a motivated team. You’ll assist with inventory management, controlling food and labor costs, and maintaining food safety and operational standards. Your role will also involve training and developing team members, resolving guest concerns, and supporting scheduling and daily restaurant operations. With your leadership and communication skills, you’ll help drive restaurant performance, enhance the guest experience, and contribute to building strong relationships within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations to ensure smooth business flow and the production and service of high-quality food and drinks by a well-trained team.
  • Ensure operational excellence by following standard operating procedures and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Help analyze restaurant performance through audits and contribute to the creation of action plans for improvements.
  • Foster positive guest relationships by ensuring fast, accurate service and assisting with complaints when needed.
  • Help control food, paper, and labor costs to align with restaurant goals, and assist with inventory and cash handling procedures.
  • Assist in restaurant ordering, inventory control, and scheduling, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with payroll tasks, timecard reviews, and compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Contribute to performance analysis and lead initiatives to enhance restaurant performance.
  • Assist in building and maintaining positive relationships with the local community and engage in corporate social responsibility programs.
  • Help establish security procedures to ensure the safety of team members and guests.
  • Recruit, train, and develop new and existing team members while motivating them to meet targets.
  • Assist with setting personal and team goals, maintaining open communication, and encouraging a positive team environment.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager in managing disciplinary actions and ensuring fair management of offenses.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, conduct regular workplace inspections, and train the team on PPE and safe work practices.
  • Assist in reporting and investigating work-related injuries and enforcing health and safety policies.
  • Keep the Restaurant Manager informed of any hazards and contribute suggestions for improvements.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of duties, and additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a fast-service restaurant setting, with a strong understanding of restaurant operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to support and motivate a team to achieve goals.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and carry up to 25 lbs., and perform tasks involving reaching and bending.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Flexible scheduling
  • Employee meal discount or free food
  • Premium rate of pay
  • Health benefits (available to full-time employees after 6 months)
  • Pension plan (available to full-time employees after 6 months)
