Description

Shape the Future of Alberta’s Electricity System

Join a team at the forefront of the province’s electricity transition. As a Senior Advisor on the Strategy Projects team, you will help guide the evolution of Alberta’s electricity sector as it adapts to new technologies, shifting policies, emerging market designs, and decarbonization objectives. Your work will directly influence strategic decisions that balance affordability, reliability, competition, and long-term efficiency.

Reporting to the Manager, Projects, you will lead components of broader complex cross-functional initiatives and apply your strong electricity market knowledge to develop recommendations and inform decision-making that shapes the future of the grid.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy fast-paced, dynamic work and want to contribute to major industry transformation.

  • Bring natural curiosity—asking thoughtful questions, uncovering insights, and exploring innovative approaches.

  • Value meaningful debate and collaboration with bright, engaged colleagues.

  • Adapt easily to change and embrace evolving priorities.

  • Appreciate a diverse, inclusive team environment where unique perspectives are welcomed.

  • Excel at facilitation and creating space for all voices to be heard.

  • Communicate clearly and tailor your approach to different audiences.

  • Value continuous improvement and mentorship within and across teams.

What You’ll Do

In this senior role, you will:

  • Lead cross-functional‑ teams to build consensus and develop policy and strategy recommendations that reflect diverse perspectives.

  • Identify and analyze complex issues and synthesize insights to support decision making and organizational priorities.

  • Apply subject matter knowledge and leverage internal and external insights to inform work planning and problem-solving.

  • Use effective project leadership practices to drive solutions that support broad organizational goals.

  • Assess trade-offs between competing objectives and support the development of clear, well-reasoned recommendations.

  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including research, material preparation and participation in discussions.

  • Analyze and communicate market, cost, reliability, operational, and other system impacts stemming from industry transformation, with a future‑proofing lens.

  • Facilitate and document key discussions, ensuring clear records of decisions, context, and outcomes.

  • Contribute to implementation initiatives including monitoring progress and identifying risks.

What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, policy, law, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • An advanced degree is an asset.

  • 8+ years of specialized experience in electricity markets, including areas such as current and future energy markets, power trading, energy policy development, or system operations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of electricity market rules, regulatory frameworks, and operational realities—and the ability to apply this knowledge in strategic contexts.

  • Direct experience with Alberta’s electricity market would be considered an asset.

  • Experience developing strategies that integrate market design, public policy, operational considerations, and stakeholder interests.

  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience facilitating or leading stakeholder consultations.

  • Experience working with government or public-sector organizations.

  • Strong writing skills, particularly for executive audiences.

  • Resilience and comfort operating in environments with evolving priorities, multiple variables, and uncertain outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

This full-time role offers:

  • Competitive salary

  • Paid vacation and flex time

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits

  • Mental health support

  • Defined contribution pension plan

  • Learning and development opportunities

  • A supportive hybrid work environment

Join Us

If you’re energized by complex challenges, motivated by meaningful strategic impact, and ready to help shape the future of Alberta’s electricity system, we’d love to hear from you.

Application deadline: April 26, 2026
