Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to assume the role of Dock Manager in Sudbury. Reporting directly to the Terminal Manager, the successful candidate will be a strong communicator with exceptional negotiation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. This role focuses on directing and coordinating activities to optimize personnel and equipment utilization, with a particular emphasis on enhancing efficiencies and fostering continuous improvement. Hours & Wage :
The Sudbury cross dock operation functions 24 / 7, with the primary dock activities occurring during night hours. The Dock Manager is expected to work five days a week, primarily on night shifts. This is a salaried position + performance bonus.
- Ensure the operation maintains profitability and efficiency through diligent monitoring of freight levels, review of terminal financials, and analysis of predetermined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with other management personnel to formulate, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures.
- Work closely with terminal managers to ensure service standards are consistently met, reviewing exceptions and resolving any emerging issues.
- Address human resource matters, including but not limited to discipline, grievances, and layoffs.
- Provide support, counsel, training, and development to staff.
- Manage customer service issues, including investigating service failures and claims, and develop and implement procedures to mitigate problems and enhance efficiency.
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
