Director of Operations

For over 125 years, OPW has led the way in designing and manufacturing world-class retail fueling, fluid handling and car wash system solutions for the safe and efficient handling and distribution of fuels and critical fluids.

OPW makes above ground and below ground products for both conventional, vapour recovery and clean energy applications in the retail and commercial markets.

Summary Description : The Director of Operations Canada, is responsible for leading the Canadian strategic operational functions of Transchem Inc.

The primary focus is to lead the operations at our chemical manufacturing facility in Cambridge, Ontario. Additionally, operational oversight will be given to Transchem’s equipment and service divisions (in Cambridge and Calgary).

This role plays an integral role in the success of the business through leading initiatives that champion operational process improvements aimed at optimizing business operations, cost reductions and increased profitability.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team :

  • Oversee and provide strategic operational guidance to the following locations :
  • Ontario chemical manufacturing facility (Cambridge)
  • Alberta field operations and warehouse (Calgary)
  • Implement and sustain manufacturing technologies that continuously improve operational excellence and model a safety culture
  • Oversee and lead all supply chain activities and provide guidance to R&D team
  • Set and execute goals to improve productivity, capacity utilization, delivery performance and resource utilization
  • Provide operational training and leadership through being a positive and enthusiastic role model
  • Champion employee engagement actions to support and sustain positive employee relations across operational teams
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills to effectively mentor, develop and lead employees
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members and set departmental goals that are in line with organizational strategic plans
  • Be accountable for compliance in assigned areas through collaboration with teams to coordinate company policies and procedures
  • Monitor work and evaluate results to ensure that the organization’s objectives and operating requirements are met to support Transchem’s vision and values
  • Participate in sales reviews and work with functional teams to establish priorities
  • Oversee management of all company owned facilities
  • Keep current on new and current manufacturing techniques

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 10 years of operational and manufacturing experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Post secondary education related to Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field is required.
  • High level of manufacturing expertise with direct experience leading Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Preferred candidates will have knowledge of :
  • a) Chemical Manufacturing
  • b) Field Installation Service
  • Experience directing and performing in-depth manufacturing planning, workforce planning, analysis and implementation.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to solve complex problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software systems to optimize data combined with inventory management.
  • Direct experience supporting high growth environments.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to guide and influence.
  • Travel Requirements :
  • 10 - 15% both domestically and internationally
  • Flexibility to travel quarterly to Calgary, Alberta
  • This position is based out of Cambridge, Ontario
