Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Job Description

This role focuses on servicing, maintaining, and installing electrical systems within warehouse and commercial facilities. You will perform troubleshooting, repairs, testing, and occasional new equipment installations, with the potential to operate a service van independently if you have sufficient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain electrical systems in warehouse and commercial/light-industrial facilities.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electrical equipment and systems on site.
  • Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Install and set up new equipment, including conveyors and related warehouse systems, as required.
  • Complete commercial electrical installs, including installing conduit and pulling circuits.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to plan and execute electrical installations and repairs.
  • Respond to commercial service calls at various locations, including warehouse and retail environments.
  • Travel to multiple job sites in a day, primarily in the north end but potentially across the city.
  • Communicate daily with the office to receive assignments and updates on job locations and tasks.
  • Operate a service van for field work when qualified and authorized.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Collaborate with apprentices and other team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Essential Skills

  • Journeyman Electrician designation with at least 3+ years of experience as a journeyman.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in electrical maintenance or service work.
  • Commercial electrical experience, including installing conduit and pulling circuits.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience with commercial installs and electrical maintenance in warehouse or similar environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for electrical work.
  • Experience working with conveyors and related warehouse equipment.
  • Experience working within warehouse facilities.
  • Valid drivers abstract suitable for operating a service van.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites in a day as required by service calls.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and regulations.

Work Environment

You will work primarily within warehouses and commercial/light-industrial service environments, including facilities such as distribution centers and retail locations. The role is based on a Monday to Friday schedule, typically 40 hours per week, from 8:00 . to 4:30 ., with occasional on-call situations that are rare. Work is mostly local, often in the north end but can be anywhere in the city, and involves traveling between job sites during the day. You will work in the field alongside a small team of journeymen and apprentices, supported by an office team. Personal protective equipment is required and includes 6-inch steel-toe boots, a hard hat, high-visibility vest, and safety glasses.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $43.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
