Job description

Higher Talent is recruiting for an Accountant for a client of ours that is a a reputable family-owned business with a rich history spanning 70 years.

What you will be doing

Manage various accounting functions including paying and posting taxes such as tobacco tax, sugar tax, HST, and bottle deposit tax.

Prepare and generate monthly, quarterly, and annual client reports.

Compile and submit monthly and annual vendor reports.

Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.

Verify, post, and record accounts receivable data, proactively resolving any billing issues with clients.

Process incoming payments and handle other related accounting tasks as required.

Performing other accounting related support tasks.

What you will bring

Prior experience in accounting or finance role.

Familiarity with IBM I-series is an asset and willingness to learn is essential.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is crucial.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges as the business evolves.
