This position assists clients who are housed within Homes First Society Meegwetch Place to maintain optimal health and mental health stability, while adhering to the mission statement and policies & procedures of Homes First Society.
Job Description :
- Assist clients with residency, meals, room cleaning, grooming and hygiene, laundry, recreational and leisure activities and health monitoring
- Arrange, remind and / or escort clients to medical, psychiatric, dental and diagnostic appointments and / or treatments
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent time management skills
- About to work independently and in inter-dependent teams
- Update client files accordingly, keep accurate records and document daily information
- Other duties as required
Qualifications :
- Personal Support Worker Certification or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of mental health issues and several years’ experience working with people with mental health issues.
- Certificates in First Aid, CPR and Crisis Prevention
- Ability to work shifts.
- Knowledge of and / or experience with the homeless population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
