Position Overview :

Our client is looking for a Senior Estimator with a strong background in construction estimating, particularly in the design-build and construction management sectors.

The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of projects, ensuring the success and profitability of our business.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Estimating : Prepare detailed and comprehensive cost estimates for design-build and construction management projects, ranging from small-scale renovations to large-scale commercial developments.

Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to accurately quantify materials, labor, and subcontractor costs.

2. Subcontractor Tendering : Manage the subcontractor tendering process, soliciting bids from qualified subcontractors and suppliers.

Review and analyze subcontractor proposals, negotiate pricing and terms, and make recommendations for subcontractor selection.

3. Bid Preparation : Lead the preparation of bid documents, including bid forms, scope of work, and project specifications.

Collaborate with the project management team to develop bid strategies, pricing models, and value engineering options to maximize competitiveness and profitability.

4. Cost Analysis : Conduct thorough cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize project budgets.

Review project plans and specifications to identify potential risks, discrepancies, and scope changes that may impact project costs.

5. Subcontractor Buyout : Manage the subcontractor buyout process, including contract negotiations, subcontractor prequalification, and subcontractor onboarding.

Ensure that subcontractors adhere to project schedules, quality standards, and contractual obligations.

6. Estimating Database Management : Maintain and update the estimating database with current pricing information, historical data, and industry trends.

Continuously improve estimating methodologies and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

7. Project Collaboration : Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the pre-construction phase to develop cost-effective solutions and value-engineered designs.

Participate in project kick-off meetings and provide ongoing support to the project team as needed.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 3-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on design-build and construction management projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software, such as Procore, Bluebeam, or HCSS.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
