Who are we looking for?
Our Engineering Design Organization is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer ready to join one of our Western Canada offices.
In this role, you will be part of the Engineering Design team working closely with Project Managers, other Engineers and Designers from multiple design lines.
This role will support projects in all of our Markets, including Water (Water / Wastewater Treatment, Linear Water, Water resources), Transportation, Environmental (Solid Waste, Landfill, Contaminated Sites and Remediation), and Energy and Resources.
As a member of the multidiscipline design team, the Electrical Engineer will work under the direction of a senior engineer on a broad spectrum of electrical aspects for multiple projects including new installations, upgrades of existing systems, testing, commissioning, and system optimization.
The candidate should have knowledge of low and medium voltage power distribution design, motor control concepts and functionality, electrical system protection and control, standby power options and implementation, and detailed design deliverables.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :
- Preparation of detailed design drawing packages for projects of varying scale
- Completion of electrical design calculations (including load demand, voltage drop, cable ampacity,
- Assisting with preparation of contract documentation including equipment specifications, cable / conduit schedules, installation specifications, equipment procurement documents, sub-contractor requisitions, scope-of-work, bill-of-materials, and process narratives
- Support during tendering and construction including responding to RFIs, assisting GHD and client site personnel, reviewing shop drawings, evaluating electrical reports (short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, ground potential rise (GPR), harmonics, etc), completing site inspections, preparing testing plans, preparation and evaluation of change orders and participation in project meetings
- Coordination of electrical system designs with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, structural, , vendors, and outside design team members.
Providing direction to and coordination with internal designers / drafting team
- Ensuring compliance with Canadian electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations. Coordination and liaison with clients and approving authorities.
- Delegation and mentorship of junior staff
What you will bring to the team :

- Licence or able to achieve within 6-months of starting date
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook
- Self-motivated quick learner with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and positive attitude
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to take ownership and accountability for completed work
- Good working knowledge and understanding of Canadian electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations, such as the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1
- Experience coordinating with multi-discipline projects will be considered an asset
- Experience using EasyPower or ETAP software for power systems studies considered an asset
- AutoCAD experience will be considered an asset
