Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Planning, the Planner, Heavy Maintenance is responsible for the planning and oversight of aircraft heavy maintenance requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities Creation of major check work packs and oversight of completed records Utilize N-OC scheduling software to ensure check visibility is available for all relevant departments.
Work alongside the central planning team to ensure maintenance requirements are included in the work packs. Work with engineering and reliability to ensure modification and reliability tasks are incorporated within the check as required.
Conduct pre-check meetings to ensure all departments are aware of the work being scheduled as well as all part and tooling requirements.
Provide continuing oversight of the work packs during the check to ensure the scope, time span and cost are kept within budget.
Adjust work packs to ensure tasks are added and removed as required and effectively communicate these adjustments with Stores, Purchasing, Heavy Maintenance representatives, Logistics, and Engineering.
Conduct regular meetings during the check to ensure all issues are being addressed and all relevant departments are kept up to date with requirements.
Resolve planning queries from maintenance personal including manual references, skill set requirements, task understanding, deferral allowance of tasks.
Work with maintenance software administrators and engineering to solve errors and omissions such as part effectivity and task discrepancies.
Ensure any new constraint tasks (eg repair repeat inspections) are built in the maintenance system and tracking prior to the aircraft release.
Provide assistance when required to ensure maintenance records are entered correctly. Analyze post-maintenance data for improvement opportunities and implement as required.
Analyze post-maintenance part requirements to ensure data is available for the purchasing team. Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations;
understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy Behavioural Competencies Concern for Safety : Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.

Qualifications Three to five years’ experience, maintenance planning within the aviation industry. Possess a detailed understanding with respect to aircraft regulatory requirements.
Display a sound understanding of aircraft documentation, technical records and aircraft maintenance planning. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills are required. Technical diploma or relevant post-secondary education in aviation maintenance or a related technical field is an asset.
