We’re looking for a Systems Manager to join the Vancouver Team. The Systems Manager will report to the Director of Information Systems and will be a member of the systems management team that creates the vision for the use of Information Technology to :
- Support the existing investment business, facilitate growth and implement new business needs.
- Implement new & innovative technology solutions.
- Develop a high-performance Information Systems team.
- Implement high quality and cost effective solutions.
A combination of third-party systems integrated with in house developed systems is utilized. The Systems Manager provides leadership to a team of 11 professionals :
- Client Relationship Management Systems
- Corporate Systems
The provision of leadership for the systems teams includes responsibilities for strategic planning, ongoing operations, project implementation and team management.
Strategic Planning, Operations and Project Implementation
- Build and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders, other system managers and systems vendors
- Work with key business stakeholders to understand and confirm investment objectives, processes and priorities
- Provide the leadership to plan, prioritize and co-ordinate staff to ensure that systems run smoothly and efficiently. Liaison with third party vendor support staff as necessary to facilitate the resolution of operational issues as required.
- Provide the leadership for the assessment of changing business requirements and identification of technology opportunities including process and technology re-engineering.
Identify optimum cost benefit system solutions to support business change, innovation and growth.
- Provide the leadership for the planning, design, development, user training, implementation, maintenance and upgrade of high quality and cost-effective technology solutions.
- Provide the leadership to manage, monitor, adjust plans and drive execution of projects to ensure the delivery of high quality solutions that are on-time and on-budget
- Stay current with investment process and technology industry standards through continuous learning and research
Team Management
- Provide the leadership to foster the corporate private entrepreneurial culture for creating the conditions for success
- Empower staff to take ownership and implement high quality, efficient systems and processes.
- Facilitate team success by communicating job expectations, monitoring, coaching, counseling, and enforcing systems policies and procedures.
- Use the performance appraisal process for staff to reward based on merit; identify areas for improvement.
- Foster continuous skills and career development for staff; identify skills required for leadership, investment processes, technology, inter-personal and career growth.
- Evolve team and staff responsibilities to meet business growth and evolution requirements.

- Third party technology implementation life cycle expertise.
- Developing budgets (Is this something you want to keep here?); managing software and consulting costs.
- Good project management knowledge with the ability to manage multiple projects at a given time.
- Strong problem resolution skills
- Strong technical background with hands on experience working with Microsoft based technologies (T-SQL / .NET / C#). Have a good understanding of Azure components and infrastructure.
- Extensive experience with Salesforce on both the administration and development areas which includes helping design solutions to match business needs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks with IT vendors / consultants.
Professional Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum five years managing Information Systems teams
- Progressively have taken on more leadership responsibilities over time.
- Track record with managing mission critical information systems and implementing improvements to improve the efficiencies of business functions
- Prior experience in the financial and / or investment area is an advantage
