Physical Education Teacher

Khalsa School Old Yale Road is seeking candidates for one Physical Education teacher position who will be the athletic director for the school.

Khalsa School Old Yale Road is a Sikh faith based school located on 10677-124 Street, Surrey, BC. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith.

Currently, we have one Physical Education Teacher opening for the new 2024-2025 school year starting August 29, 2024. We recognize North American teaching experience.

Physical Education Teacher position

Start Date : August 29, 2024

Physical & Health Education 6-7 blocks

Salary : Starting salary of $61,500 / year (over 10 months)

Only offered to CoQ teachers or teachers who have a completed application with

the Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a teacher with a Certificate of Qualification (CoQ)

Teaching experience in Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting

salary for CoQ teachers

Duties :

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum
• Coaching sports teams (basketball, volleyball, soccer, Track & Field etc.)
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Assess student progress and provide feedback
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience
• Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events

Experience :

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• BC teaching certification
• Proven experience teaching Physical and Health Education as per the BC curriculum or related subjects (preferable)
• Experience coaching Elementary or Secondary school students
• Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively
• Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues
• Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles

Skills :

• Proficient in proofreading educational materials
• Classroom management expertise
• Effective communication and writing skills
• Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus
• Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently
