Job Summary

The Partnerships Team is responsible for creating and building strategic partnerships that align the Woodbine mission of supporting racing in Ontario with some of the world's leading and emerging brands.

We generate creative marketing partnerships and revenue opportunities for Woodbine Racetrack, Woodbine Mohawk Park Racetrack and other subsidiary Woodbine Entertainment properties.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Partnerships, the candidate is responsible for implementing, servicing, renewing and upgrading Woodbine's partnership deals, creating amazing fan experiences with Woodbine and our partners brands as the hero.

This position is ideal for an individual who is a client centric marketer who has a passion for building and delivering strategic partnerships with a specific interest in sports / racing and connecting brands to customers / events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Lead and grow a portfolio of integrated partnerships; build strong and trusted business relationships with senior clients through regular and pro-active contact, continually seeking to elevate partnership by bringing creative and innovative ideas forward
  • Lead, manage and inspire account coordinators, providing coaching on their roster of accounts, and offer timely and meaningful feedback
  • Provide thought leadership to partners during the ideation phase and throughout delivery; raise the bar of creativity and strategic delivery
  • Develop a deep and detailed understanding of the partners' business and competitive environment in order to continually deliver against business objectives for both the partner and Woodbine
  • Work collaboratively with internal Woodbine departments to implement and fulfill partner obligations and ensure deliverables are met against partner agreements
  • Become an expert in your partner's corporate objectives, brand, and competitive industry as well as all Woodbine properties to create integrated programs and proactively identify new opportunities
  • Ability to ideate, present and execute creative marketing programs that will help partners achieve their objectives by leveraging a mix of broadcast, social / digital media, experiential and print assets.
  • Utilize data to evaluate program results for post event and season recap documents to be presented to key stakeholders with meaningful feedback and recommendations on future growth or program optimization.
  • Develop and manage individual partner budgets with monthly and year end reporting
  • Establish and maintain various agency and vendor relationships
  • Work within a team environment supporting colleagues on various programs, pitches, and department initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and work closely with internal teams to perform other work-related duties as requested
  • Create compelling client presentations and prepare impactful partnership proposals
  • Work closely with sales, marketing and events teams to ensure smooth transition in the launch of new partnerships
  • Develop and lead partnership renewal strategy for expiring contracts
  • Review and ensure confidentiality of all partnership contracts and agreements with Legal department and relevant internal stakeholders

Position Requirements

  • You have 3-5 years of demonstrated success in a marketing, strategy and / or partnership marketing role with knowledge of integrated channels including Digital, Social Media, Experiential and Broadcast
  • You are responsible, accountable, and solutions-focused; you deliver on promises and take initiative
  • You are naturally curious and creative, seeking to constantly learn and share new trends and best practices
  • You are able to think long-term, see the big picture, strategize accordingly, and obtain buy-in at a variety of levels and across a variety of departments
  • You have related post-secondary education
  • You understand the Canadian sports and entertainment landscape
  • You are able to think strategically and connect brands, business objectives, and the property through sponsorship deals
  • You demonstrate outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize projects in parallel
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to quality customer service
  • Can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have the ability to produce exceptional PowerPoint - deck building skills
  • Strong qualitative and analytical skills with experience of KPI / ROI measurement
  • Have confidence and persuasiveness in presenting and up-selling to existing partners
  • You are self-motivated; work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team
  • You are effective at providing direction, support, and delegating tasks to volunteers, Interns and Seasonal Staff where appropriate
  • You have excellent negotiating skills and have the ability to work and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • You are imaginative and an innovative problem solver
  • Having experience with CRM, Photoshop and Digideck is considered an asset
  • You are able to work during events in the evenings and weekends when applicable for major race days
