As the Location - Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Associate Manager at Accenture, you will play a pivotal role in promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility at the facility level.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive ISO 45001 and 14001 certified HSE Management Systems.
- Contribute to corporate HSE policies and procedures.
- Manage HSE documentation, records, and reporting requirements effectively.
- Complete site and operational HSE risk assessments to identify and control safety hazards and environmental impacts.
- Implement risk controls as defined by risk assessment results.
- Ensure HSE compliance locally, including monitoring local laws, regulations, standards, and client requirements using 3rd compliance management tools.
- Advise local Health and Safety Committees of regulatory requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to employees on health, safety, and environmental matters by coordinating and administering HSE training, education, coaching and job permitting (LOTO, confined space, hot work, etc.).
- Ensure visitor and contractor HSE risks are identified and managed.
- Provide HSE orientations and assist with onboarding.
- Develop and deliver safety talks.
- Implement and maintain HSE communications including team lists, comm boards, hazard alerts.
- Collaborate with the Life Safety Team to ensure emergency response measures are functional and tested. (Including drills)
- Implement, test, evaluate, and improve emergency response procedures (including first aid / first response, fire protection, evacuation, shelter, emergency contacts, emergency equipment, accounting for personnel, spill control, business continuity).
- Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits, including ISO audits to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards and corporate requirements.
- Manage the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including selection, maintenance, purchasing, training, storage, and compliance.
- Manage chemical inventory and related procedures (evaluation of response, quantities, proper PPE, storage, and disposal).
- Manage the storage, use, disposal and transportation of hazardous materials, including maintenance of local Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory.
- Manage compliance data and user role assignments within the corporate HSE Management Systems software platform.
- Collect and report environmental sustainability data.
- Track data related to products made and sold to support downstream emissions disclosure.
- Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics to track progress, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
- Liase and manage communications with local OHS and Environmental regulatory bodies and agencies.
- Implement increased / enhanced operational control procedures.
- Facilitate feedback and continuous improvement of HSE programs.
- Contribute to the enhancement of a positive HSE culture.
- May also be responsible for HSE responsibilities across additional locations within country.
Job Requirements :
- This role requires on-site work Monday - Friday 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm onsite in Cambridge, ON
- Travel Requirements : Up to 10% domestic travel
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years of Health Safety and Environment experience
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree
- HSE ISO 45001 and / or 14001 Management System experience.
- Knowledge and experience with country specific industrial health, safety and environmental laws and regulations
- Experience with managing facility health, safety and environmental processes and procedures
- Experience with managing project deliverables and team collaboration
- Occupational health and safety certifications such as CSP, OHST, CSHO, etc.
- ISO 45001, 14001, 9001 Training / Lead Auditor Certification
- Experience with Cority software
- Industrial / Manufacturing work experience
- Project and Risk management work experience
- Excellent report writing skills along with data reporting skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint
