Family Law Paralegal / Legal Assistant (Hybrid Position)
A highly respected law firm based in downtown Vancouver, specializing in Family Law, is seeking a Family Law Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join their growing team.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work closely with lawyers on substantive legal work as a paralegal, while also managing administrative tasks as a legal assistant.

The Role
Paralegal Responsibilities :
- Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, and court applications.
- Conducting legal research and preparing summaries for lawyer review.
- Assisting in the preparation for mediations, hearings, and trials, including preparing binders, exhibits, and disclosure packages.
- Managing client files and maintaining strict confidentiality of case information.
- Monitoring and ensuring deadlines and court orders are met, including family law court filing deadlines.
Legal Assistant Responsibilities :
- Managing lawyer calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings with clients and other parties.
- Drafting and sending client correspondence, emails, and letters.
- Handling client billing, time entry, and managing expense reports.
- Opening, organizing, and maintaining electronic and physical client files.
- Handling calls, voicemails, and inquiries from clients with a professional and client-focused demeanor.
Skills & Abilities
- Completion of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal diploma program.
- 3+ years of experience working as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with a preference for family law experience.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite , particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with Amicus Attorney or Clio would be considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail in drafting and document review.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented mindset.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to client service, understanding the sensitive nature of family law matters.
