Job Description
Reporting into the controller, the incumbent will be responsible for the full accounting cycle related to their designated business units.
- Ensure the accuracy of accounting records.
- Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements.
- Provide regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform monthly and year-end closing tasks.
- Participate in various continuous improvement projects to optimize processes and reduce financial reporting cycle times.
- Develop and prepare various value-added financial analyses.
- Ensure compliance with tax obligations by preparing and submitting tax returns in accordance with applicable tax legislation.
- Work closely with the company's various partners to understand their businesses, help them understand their financial drivers and challenge their assumptions.
- Collaborate with other departments to obtain necessary information and resolve accounting issues.
- Handle audit requests by collaborating with external auditors, providing the necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Perusing CPA designation, an asset
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with an accounting ERP system
- Experience preparing financial statements
- Experience in performing account reconciliations and analysis
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
