Velocity Truck Centre Canada, formally known as First Truck Centre, has an exciting opening for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist at our Edmonton West location.

Primary Job Functions

  • Prepare and process full cycle semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salary employees in multiple locations and collective agreements.
  • Administration of employee group benefits and Company RRSP plans.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile various payroll and benefit related reports for salaried and / or hourly employees, including monthly journal entries.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliation and account analysis for various payroll and withholding accounts.
  • Perform monthly insurance updating online with company group benefit providers, and internally including calculations for monthly JV's.

Maintain insurance files and monitor eligibility and changes as required.

  • Function as liaison between Company employees and various insurance and employee benefit providers.
  • Other payroll-related tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce HRIS system, current payroll practices and worker compensation programs are required.
  • UKG HRMS experience is considered an asset.
  • Above average skills with Microsoft Office Suite ( Excel, Word)
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certifications is preferred.
  • Post secondary education in payroll is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Initiative-taker and able to work in a fast-paced, detailed, and process-driven environment.
