Help CBC Advance Industry Knowledge and Information Sharing.

At CBC / Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms.

CBC is leading efforts to share industry knowledge and expertise (especially with equity deserving groups - Indigenous; Black;

racialized; disabled; LGBTQ2+) to make sure that all feel welcome to tell their stories. This includes the planning and hosting of workshops and training sessions like One Stop Business Workshop.

CBC's aim is to share, collaborate and contribute to a more sustainable and more equitable Canadian broadcasting and production industry.

Your role

  • As CBC's Project Lead, Industry Information Sharing, you will lead CBC's efforts to promote, plan, program and host various industry initiatives which remove barriers to CBC and the industry for equity deserving groups.
  • The successful incumbent will decide how to take impactful action in the creation and production of initiatives and programs which accelerate the access to CBC and the industry for equity deserving groups.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Leading the CBC lead on the One Stop Business Workshop (both virtual and in person versions) initiative including planning (with CMPA and CAVCO and other industry partners) and execution.
  • Constructing and advancing the certificate program offered through One Stop Business Workshop and any other related initiatives.
  • Leading other industry information sharing initiatives connected to a variety of relevant industry topics including music rights;

program financing and contracting; content accessibility; environmental sustainability; and content rights clearances.

  • Liaising with industry and community partners to understand what is needed especially from equity deserving groups.
  • Distilling, sharing and advancing lessons learned through the industry initiatives including through in person sessions;

virtual sessions; and written materials, newsletters and articles.

  • Managing and sharing CBC's program related data on its industry initiatives.
  • Understanding and leading the best technological and other ways to lead industry information sharing including technological understanding and practical experience with sessions on Youtube; Zoom; Facebook.
  • Experience with making information and presentation accessible, including coordinating closed captioning and American Sign language.
  • You communicate well. You have a deep knowledge on equity deserving groups and the barriers they need removed to feel welcome to tell their stories.
  • You will report to CBC's Executive Director of Business & Rights. You will work with, share information and build relationships with other positions and departments at CBC including CBC's Content Accessibility Lead, CBC's Environmental Sustainability Lead, CBC Entertainment, Factual and Sports division, Equity & Inclusion;

CBC Training and CBC Regulatory.

We are looking for a candidate with the following :

  • Experience in the media industry in Canada especially from the perspective of an equity deserving group.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with television, audio and digital media process and production especially the business aspects.
  • Training and presentation experience - both in person and virtually via youtube; zoom and other platforms.
  • Experience with making information and presentations accessible including via closed captioning and American sign language (both in person and virtual settings).
  • Experience with data aggregation and presentation in a way that is simple and inspires action.- Strong computer skills.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Creativity and innovative problem-solving skills to address all policy and pro duction issues in a manner which successfully balances multiple interests.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including an ability to work with both emerging and experienced producers - inside and outside CBC as well as with mid level and senior management and industry leaders.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work independently taking initiative.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Able and willing to work beyond regular office hours during peak periods of activity as well as the flexibility to attend industry functions and events.
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset.
