What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director, Wholesale Financial Control is a key leader in Capital Markets Finance, collaborating with stakeholders from the front office, risk management, operations, IT and other Finance functional areas to develop and sustain effective and efficient governance and controls over the financial results.

What you will do?

Perform control and governance over the financial position and performance of each business area and execution of close processes.

This includes review of financial and regulatory submissions (e.g., journal entries, templates). GL attestations, oversight and documentation of SOX and other control processes.

Quarterback accounting issues and new business initiatives for Finance, orchestrating relevant activities through functional partners to enable Front Office transactions.

As a result, you will develop an understanding of business results and drivers, and create relationships with the business and other key stakeholders as a trusted business partner.

  • Champion continuous process improvement and system changes. You will help to enable GM FC to spend more time on value-added analytics and less time on manual process :
  • You will lead a small team, enabling high performance through active coaching and candid feedback, with an eye to longer term development of your team member’s skills and capabilities.

What you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • CPA or equivalent designation, evidenced by a strong knowledge and understanding of financial reporting under IFRS accounting standards and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Curiosity to explore better ways of working while maintaining a strong governance mindset, accompanied by a drive to take ownership for and resolve issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and acute attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills ability to work with people at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to manage numerous priorities simultaneously amidst tight deadlines.
  • High proficiency with computer applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Capital Markets businesses including some understanding of complex financial instruments and transactions relating to securities, derivatives and debt / equity issuances, together with a willingness and interest in deepening that knowledge.
  • Experience with RBC financial systems and associated procedures including EPM system knowledge
  • 5+ years of high level involvement in Financial / management reporting.
  • People Management experience
