Primary Purpose :
- You will be responsible for the international students welcome and housing support services;
- Plan and coordinate student pre-departure information sessions, working with education partners;
- Plan student orientation event schedule and coordinated staff and community partners' participation in the orientation;
- Introduce students to all services available to them both on campus and in the community;
- Assist and advise students on their housing needs in locations of their choice and based on budgets;
- Build strong relationships with landlords, real estate legal counsel, housing resource websites, and community partners;
- Develop a strong understanding of the Landlord Tenant Act to be able to advise students accurately on housing issues;
- Network with shelters, hotels, and other emergency transitional places to assist students in emergency situations;
- Refer students to qualified third-party professional resources for questions regarding study permits, work permits and immigration matters;
- Share information about housing with other student services coordinators;
- Work with the Campus Director to coordinate the peer-assisted learning program, as well as professional tutoring programs with faculty;
- Planned, organized, coordinated, and promoted activities to enrich the student experience throughout time at school;
- Organize guest speakers and community partners to deliver life skills workshops on campus;
- Manage the process to ensure that international students receive their health insurance cards and are aware of the health insurance coverage;
- Refer students to qualified third-party professional resources for questions regarding study permits, work permits, and immigration matters;
- Effectively communicate to students the services available to them, how they can access the services, and assist students with accessing them when required;
- Manage the process to ensure that international students receive their health insurance cards and are aware of the health insurance coverage;
- Assisting students in accessing systems such as the student web and Brightspace; and
- Other duties as required.
What you bring to the position :
- A college diploma in a related field is preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience of the housing markets, student, and community housing resources.
- 3-4 years of administrative work experience in education or a comparable educational environment.
- Experience coordinating group activities or events.
- Understanding of current educational environment.
- Very strong organizational skills.
- Experience working with students or young adults is an asset.
- Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
