Overview
Reporting to the Director, Business Strategy & Development , the Business Development Associate supports the overall growth of the Professional Services division of Avison Young Canada.
Similar to some US roles, this new professional will focus on 1. origination of new opportunities, and 2. writing proposals / RFP submissions to secure work and assignments, as described below :
Responsibilities
Originate new business
- Help drive the sales process with customers from prospecting to qualifying, to the closing of the business.
- Develop the Professional Services database in HubSpot to advance target clients, track market opportunities and assess overall sector potential.
- Help different teams to develop and target prospective clients across different service lines and markets.
- Help to build and maintain a robust and healthy pipeline to meet growth objectives.
- Actively engage in the internal selling process with the Director of Business Development and various technical teams.
- Attend industry events as needed and assist in the continued development of Professional Services’ go-to market plan.
- Participate in or conduct weekly sales meetings to review pipeline and strategy with the different market leaders.
- Aligning events and marketing activities with key industry dates and events.
Prepare proposals and pitch materials (together with marketing team)
- Assist with the preparation of presentations for client pitches and interviews.
- Create and maintain client databases, mailing lists and assist with the creation of marketing content.
- Help to track sales opportunities through regular updating of entries in the CRM system.

Qualifications
- University degree and 1 3 years of related experience; real estate industry experience
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to show initiative and autonomy
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Team player with energy and initiative
