About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment and Staffing, the incumbent will be responsible for the outreach, recruitment, selection, and staffing processes within a large multi-union environment.

The incumbent will deliver subject specific expertise and exemplary customer service to a diverse group of internal and external associates to provide a positive experience for all employees and employment candidates.

Duties include but are not limited to :

Organize and manage all aspects of internal and external outreach, recruitment, and selection processes across a diverse range of employee groups

Develop and implement creative strategies to reach high quality talent pools while ensuring outreach, recruitment and selection processes are barrier-free, fair, equitable, open and transparent

Ensure accurate processing of wage and salary administration in compliance with the collective agreements and Board Policies and Procedures

Administer and coordinate system-wide internal staffing processes in accordance with provincial legislation and collective agreement language

Provide timely and accurate advice regarding recruitment strategies, staffing policies, employment legislation, and collective agreements for senior management, supervisory staff, principals, and employees

Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with union officials and a variety of internal and external associates

Work in partnership with other members of the Human Resource Services and Staff Well-Being Department to support changes in employee status and staff transitions

Develop and implement quality human resources service initiatives; supporting a variety of special projects; other related duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Post-secondary education in industrial relations, labour relations or human resources management or equivalent related education and directly related experience

CHRP / Human Resources Certificate or equivalent related professional designation (an asset)

Three years of progressive human resources experience in a multi-union and public sector environment

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in human resources practices and processes, relevant provincial and federal legislation, and collective agreements

Knowledge of Ontario College of Teachers, Basic and Additional Qualifications, Ministry of Education, Education Act, Regulation 274, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Freedom of Information Act, Pay Equity

Excellent research, analytical, organizational, problem solving and strategic thinking skills

Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships and provide exemplary service to a diverse group of internal and external associates

Demonstrated effective leadership, coordination, organizational and planning skills

Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, ability to meet timelines and maintain confidentiality

Knowledge and understanding of the Board’s Mission, Annual Plan, Equity Action Plan, policies, and directives

Demonstrated practice of anti-oppressive / anti-racist approaches to disrupt discrimination and dismantle racism and oppression to ensure respectful and inclusive staffing processes

Previous experience with education sector staffing processes considered an asset

The successful applicant will be required to work a flexible work week during peak workload periods
