Chief Executive Officer

Toronto, Ontario

Salary : $175,000 - $200,000 (+ benefits)

The Macaulay Centres for Children is a dynamic charitable organization committed to helping all children reach their full potential and thrive.

Knowing that the best way to help a child succeed is to also support the child’s family and community, they offer programs and services for children and those closest to them.

Founded in 1932, the Macaulay has built a reputation as an innovator that helps unlock the potential of children, regardless of their socioeconomic standing, special needs, or behavioural challenges.

Today they operate nineteen (19) Child Care Centres in west Toronto, and provide home care to hundreds of families. Macaulay also leads community programs : EarlyON (parent and child program), preschool speech and language, Homework Club for school aged children and programs for parents.

The next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Macaulay is someone with a passion for enabling children to reach their full potential, empowering families and communities, and making a long-term difference in the policies and systems that give children the right start in life.

The next CEO is a capable administrator of social services who is at ease leading and working with a collaborative team in a positive and diverse workplace.

We are seeking to meet candidates who have :

• 5-10 years working in or in an area that supports child care / child development
• 5-10 years in management
• Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of services for children and families such as child care, early child development, special needs, etc.
• Demonstrated business acumen
• Recognized leader in the field
• Proven leadership skills
• Experience in not-for-profit
• Knowledge / capacity in the area of fundraising
• Demonstrated skills in strategic thinking
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to speak well in public forums
• Demonstrated advocacy skills
• Previous experience in managing a large and diverse work force
• Demonstrated experience in working with a diverse community that experiences socio-economic disadvantage
• Previous experience in budget planning and monitoring and reporting
• Team player that can work with and motivate diverse groups
• Experience working with a governing Board of Directors
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and network with key stakeholders
• Expert knowledge of the structure of government offices supporting child development and care

Assets :

• Knowledge of anti-black racism and an equity lens in a community that has experienced racism marginalization
• Previous experience in a unionized environment

Education :

• BA or higher in an area of study applicable to the role or a combination of education and experience in the field
• Masters level education in a relevant field ( MA / MBA / MEd / MSW) or equivalent experience is an asset
