We are seeking a Behavioural Support Worker in Toronto

What will be your role?

The Behavioural Support Worker position is responsible for providing direct support to clients / families that meet the criteria for VHA Home HealthCare and partners.

This program is designed to support families in need of respite care for their children / youth with autism spectrum disorder and / or Neurodevelopmental conditions.

In this role you will be dealing with children and youth referred to the program who may have a range of extensive behavioral, developmental, mental health, medical needs and social vulnerabilities by providing respite relief to parents / families directly in the family home.

The Behavioural Support Worker will be planning and implementing activities according to the individualized care plan that meets the person’s recreational, and leisure needs while maintaining a safe environment.

They will also be required to participate in collaborative care meetings with the interdisciplinary team, the client (where appropriate) and the client’s caregivers at various intervals.

Required Qualifications :

  • Degree or diploma in a health-related field, such as Social Work / Social Service Work, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker.
  • CPR, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention (NVCPI) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience will be ideal.
  • Experience working directly with children and / or youth with significant needs and challenges affecting social, emotional, behavioral, communicative and / or developmental functioning.
