The opportunity

CWB is seeking an outstanding individual to join our team as an AVP, Third Party Risk Management! This is a unique opportunity to be a key member of the second line Group Risk Management leadership team, providing effective oversight and influencing business and corporate functions on third party risk management (TPRM).

As the AVP, Third Party Risk Management, you will lead the strategic execution and implementation of the third-party risk management program across CWB Financial Group (CWB) including its subsidiaries! You will ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, including OSFI's B-10 Guideline.

This role will be integral to the success of CWB's third party risk management and achieving Operational Resilience.

Areas of focus

  • Lead the strategic implementation, maintenance, and communication of an integrated Third-Party Risk Management program within CWB.
  • Assess and evaluate monitoring and oversight processes to stay updated with the latest developments and approaches in third-party risk management.
  • Build tools and templates, in collaboration with key stakeholders, that ensure accurate oversight of third parties, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead regular oversight and effective independent challenge of TPRM framework activities conducted by the business and corporate functions.
  • Provide effective oversight to the Third-Party Risk Management Support Office.
  • Engage and collaborate with business and leadership teams to successfully implement TPRM related frameworks, standards, protocols, and procedures.
  • Monitor, track and report the progress of TPRM processes and engagements.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and recommended approaches for handling third party risk and ensuring compliance.
  • Effectively work with various stakeholders and provide constructive feedback to address potential risks from external sources.
  • Run multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analyze third part risk data and information on a continuous basis , develop dashboards and regular reporting on third party risk management activities to various governance committees.
  • Lead and coordinate external third-party risk regulatory reviews and inquiries by OSFI and other regulators.

Successful incumbent

  • Undergraduate university degree in a related field; post-graduate degree and / or professional qualifications are preferred.
  • Seven (7) to Nine (9) years of related third-party risk experience, preferably within the banking industry.
  • Strong familiarity with OSFI Guideline B-10, B-13 and E-21.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory matters and investigations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance practices, procedures, and principles applicable to the banking industry in Canada, with a specific focus on third party risk management.
  • Experience working with a vendor risk management software solution, specifically with ServiceNow vendor risk management platform will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in report automation and efficiency through visualization tools such as Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and presentation skills, and ability to analyze strategic approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Strong ability to understand, analyze, and interpret regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ease with information technology, especially data analytics and related processes driven by technology.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to details and ability to effectively prioritize tasks and deliver results.
  • Focused on achieving goals collaboratively.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills vital to work across functional boundaries and levels of the organization.
  • Experience dealing with management at all levels and providing practical, cost-effective solutions to complex issues.
