The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing the company's data systems and architecture.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into Manulife's data warehouse and utilize your expertise in building pipelines using, Python, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, SQL server, and Azure functions to enhance the data ecosystem.

Primary Location : CAN, Ontario, Toronto, 200 Bloor Street East

Hybrid 3 days : (Tues. Wed. Thur.)

Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and implement Python data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into Manulife's data warehouse.
  • Lead the development of data integration solutions, including API integrations and data feeds, while ensuring alignment to data governance policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with other data professionals, including data scientists, analysts, and business team members, to understand data requirements and develop solutions to meet those needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies and see opportunities to enhance Manulife's data infrastructure.
  • Ensure that team members are meeting project timelines and delivering high-quality solutions that meet the needs of the business.

In this role, you will report to the Director, Lead Data Engineering and play a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, efficiency, and effectiveness of the data systems and architecture at Manulife.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role with expertise in building and operationalizing data platforms in cloud MS Azure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or equivalent post-secondary degree
  • Proficiency in automating data pipelines using PySpark, code versioning in GIT, DevOps, and CICD, as well as excellent programming skills in compiled and scripting languages.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and solutioning skills, with a capacity for constant learning and understanding of Agile scrum methodologies.
  • Understands change / release management processes.
  • Experience in attending, debugging and providing fixes to production incidents.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$92,190.00 CAD - $171,210.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education / training.
