Our National Underwriting team is looking for an ambitious Senior Underwriting Specialist who will utilize their strong portfolio management skills and underwriting experience to provide technical guidance and oversight for Sovereign’s Property and Casualty underwriting practices.

How you will create impact :

  • Leading or participating in the analysis of the Property and Casualty underwriting portfolio to drive and maintain profitability.
  • Supporting the design, development, implementation and maintenance of policy wordings, guidelines, authorities, and underwriting resource tools.
  • Participating in the development, implementation and maintenance of corporate underwriting standards, appetite, and philosophy.
  • Leading or participating in the underwriting audit process including follow up support to ensure action plans to address issues identified in the audit occur in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining forms, files, records as well as preparing reports, information and presentations as required.

To join our team :

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, with at least 5 at the senior or specialist level.
  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of portfolio analysis metrics
  • Experience in other lines of business is an asset.
  • Experience training, coaching, and mentoring individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Proven project and change management skills with the ability to deliver on deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Specialized experience in any one or more of the following is an asset, but not a requirement : Manufacturing, Construction, Wholesale, Warehousing, Transportation, the MGA market or alternative distribution models.

  • Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
