Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the CEO, your duties and responsibilities include;
  • Oversee the Finance Department, ensuring compliance with ASNPO, operational requirements, and organizational policies
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the team, ensuring efficient and value-added services
  • Develop, implement, and maintain sound accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Establish guidelines for budget preparation and present the annual budget to the Audit, Finance & Risk Management Committee and Board
  • Analyze financial trends, providing forecasting information and alternatives for decision-making
  • Manage cash flow, prepare cash forecasts, and oversee investment activities in accordance with organizational policies
  • Manage and update the organization's Risk Register, collaborating with senior management on mitigation strategies
  • Identify, monitor, and advise senior management and the Board on key organizational risks
  • Collaborate with the Audit, Finance & Risk Management Committee on the development of the organization's Enterprise Risk Management approach
  • Foster positive internal relationships with the Board of Directors, Audit, Finance & Risk Management Committee, staff, and volunteers
  • Manage external relationships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health Central Region, auditors, donors, and suppliers
  • Provide guidance to the senior management team on financial matters
  • Lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary contact with external auditors
  • Oversee the preparation of reports for the Ministry of Health, including the Annual Reconciliation Report
  • Manage the preparation and filing of annual Charity Return (T3010), quarterly HST returns, and annual funder accountability reports
  • Contribute financial expertise to strategic planning initiatives
  • Prepare financial segments for grant proposals and business cases for various funders
  • Participate in long and short-term planning of the organization's programs, proposals, and tenders
  • Provide quality control through review and editing of proposals, documents, and communications

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce
  • CPA designation
  • 5-7 years of senior-level experience in an Ontario healthcare organization or a similarly complex sector
  • Experience with AlayaCare and CRM database is an asset
  • Strong financial trend analysis and forecasting skills
  • Ability to simplify financial statements for various levels of financial literacy
  • Experience in preparing grant proposals and business cases for government and other funders
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be bondable
