Description de poste

Calgary Airports oversees two of Alberta's most important aviation assets: YYC Calgary International Airport, one of Canada's busiest and most strategically important transportation hubs, and YBW Springbank Airport, a critical centre for general aviation, flight training, business aviation, and emergency response operations. Together, the airports serve as vital gateways for passenger travel, trade, tourism, economic development, and aviation services across Western Canada. Guided by a vision to be the airport of choice, Calgary Airports is focused on creating exceptional experiences while investing in the infrastructure, technology, and sustainability initiatives that support the region's long-term growth. Canada’s fourth-busiest airport by passenger traffic, YYC welcomed almost 20 million passengers in 2025, while YBW plays an essential role in supporting the broader aviation ecosystem and developing the next generation of aviation professionals. Operated by Calgary Airports, a community-based, not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1990, both airports contribute to the organization's vision to connect local and global communities while creating exceptional experiences as the airport of choice.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Accounting & Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the accounting function for one of Canada’s largest and most complex airport operations. Leading a team of approximately 15 accounting and finance professionals, the Director will provide hands-on leadership across all aspects of the accounting cycle, from day-to-day operations to board-level reporting, and strategic decision-making. Working closely with executive leadership, operational teams, and key stakeholders across the organization, the Director will ensure the integrity of financial reporting and controls, oversee complex accounting for strategic capital projects and funding arrangements, while championing continued efficiency and automation initiatives. With significant infrastructure investments planned in the years ahead and the potential for continued organizational evolution, this role offers a unique opportunity to influence critical business decisions, drive process improvements, and help shape the future of one of Western Canada’s most important transportation and economic assets.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and commercially minded accounting leader who combines their expertise with the ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and navigate complexity. The successful individual will bring progressive accounting and finance experience within a sophisticated, multi-entity environment, along with a track record of leading high-performing teams and developing talent. A designated CPA, they possess a strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, audit, treasury operations, and regulatory compliance, while demonstrating the judgment and business acumen required to support strategic decision-making. Equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to resolve technical accounting issues as they are presenting to senior leaders or the Board, this individual is a collaborative partner who thrives in a dynamic environment undergoing growth and change.

To fill this position, Calgary Airports has partnered with leadership advisory firm Odgers. Applications are encouraged immediately and should be submitted online.
