Cable Splicer (Underground)
Valard Construction LP is a premier powerline contractor, serving clients in both public & private sectors. We offer construction services in overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations.
Valard Construction LP is seeking qualified Underground Cable Splicers to join our GTA Operations Team. We are looking for self-motivated, team player, dedicated individuals who are willing to work as part of a dynamic team that provides crucial support to Valard’s projects.
Requirements
Must have 5 10 years’ experience and be a certified jointer, Red Seal Joint Point Location who has the relevant experience in the underground plant.
The applicant should be a self-starter who can read an electrical print and plan the job as outlined in the scope of the project.
Be qualified to work in Cable Chambers, Transformer Vaults, Stations, Sub Stations, Pad mount Txs, URD and Compact Radial systems.
Familiar with design, construction and equipment having voltage ratings of 44Kv, 27Kv, 13.8Kv and 4Kv. Able to work Live Line on secondary voltages including working on live AILC conductors.
Must be able work on and install :
Straight and Wye splices on XLPE cable
Transition splices PILC to XLPE cable
Install straight Receptacle Terms for Network Tx applications
200A, 600A and T-body LBEs
Complete lead splicing
Additional helpful certificates and qualifications should include Work Protection Code, Confined Space, and related rescue training Overhead and Underground.
Must have a valid driver’s licence DZ (AZ preferred).
Must have clean criminal record.
Must be willing to join CUSW union.
