About the team(s) + role(s)

Growth

The Growth team's mission is to guide our customers in selecting relevant products that enhance their financial journey. We are actively developing new types of incentives to facilitate this process and are considering converting it to a platform to further streamline and enhance these efforts.

As the member of the team, you will tackle sophisticated technical challenges and build products to help optimize user engagement and empower customers.

As a Senior Software Developer on the Growth team, you’ll have the opportunity to craft the future of financial technology.

Acquisition

The Acquisition team’s mission is to empower everyone’s financial success through simple acquisition funnels and elevated experiences.

The team is mainly responsible for acquiring and onboarding new users to Robinhood through 3 main avenues : dot-com site, referrals & incentives, and onboarding.

As Senior Software Developer, you will be building and owning certain backend services, infrastructure and data that power our core financial products.

You will gain a unique look into how the US financial systems work on the inside and strengthen your financial-domain knowledge.

We strive for a high standard of engineering quality while solving unique scalability challenges. You will have a high impact at a relatively small company for our user base.

We are continuously tweaking and modularizing our code to enable additional scenarios, and ultimately to make it easier for new customers to join Robinhood.

Trust & Safety

As an engineer on the Customer Trust & Safety team, you will be responsible for building the foundational products and services that Robinhood teams utilize to ensure Robinhood is a safe place for our users.

This team aims to provide solutions and platforms that cater to a variety of internal and external scenarios from building prevention and detection controls for specific fraud patterns to building generic platforms that enable rapid prevention, detection, and mitigation cycles.

Our success is our customers’ success; you will directly help customers safely invest, engage & transact on the Robinhood platform as they build their financial future! Your work will be critical in building and maintaining trust with our customers, regulators, and the public.

What you’ll do

• Build scalable systems and components, making the right tradeoffs to account for stability and long-term maintainability.
• Design, write, test, and release product-facing features with stringent correctness and scalability requirements.
• Collaborate with our frontend and data teams to fine tune our REST APIs supporting millions of customers.
• Mentor junior developers on the team and lead project of large complexity
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, team productivity and reduce risk

What you bring

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years experience writing low latency, large scale distributed systems.
• Familiarity with writing highly concurrent systems and good intuition for REST API design.
• Proven experience working on large projects with long-term impact on a single system or team.
• Strong technical grasp with excellent judgment on task prioritizations.
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems that deliver results aligned with team objectives.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and lead the team technically on new initiatives and system improvements
