What you’ll do

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis and consultation for children with, or suspected of having, a hearing loss, using related diagnostic equipment in assigned clinical service area.
  • Plan and collaborate with community partners for meeting the rehabilitation needs for children with hearing loss.
  • Provide families with support, parent education, and counseling regarding paediatric hearing loss and related issues.
  • Ensure referral of families to community based care providers and other recommended rehabilitation services.
  • Contribute professional input to child specific multidisciplinary team conferences for children with hearing loss or risk factors for hearing loss to ensure audiologic needs are met in service planning.

What you bring

  • Masters degree in Audiology from a recognized University program.
  • One (1) year of recent experience in areas related to childhood hearing loss.
  • Registrant of the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of British Columbia.

You will also have the ability to :

  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Deal effectively with others.
  • Problem solve, organize and prioritize work.
  • Carry out the duties of the position.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
