Clinical Specialist - Mental Health and Addictions - Repost

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Specialized Services, Clinical Specialists, the Clinical Specialist addresses key clinical issues by providing clinical expertise and leadership in the areas of clinical practice, consultation, supervision, inter-professional collaboration, education and training, quality improvement, and research.

The Clinical Specialist provides leadership in promoting and maintaining excellence in the delivery of relevant, evidence-based clinical interventions within the integrated mental health and addictions (MHA) system.

The Clinical Specialist, in alignment with and a champion of health care transformation, will be responsive to broad system needs, including embracing and leading change that improves flow, access, and treatment options for Manitobans.

The position of Clinical Specialist functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Shared Health.

Experience

• Minimum of four years’ clinical practice in community mental health / addictions services.
• Two years’ experience in consultative or supervisory role.
• Skills and experience in staff training and development within a continuous learning environment.
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary staff and promoting inter-professional practice.
• Experience in program planning, evaluation and development.

Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)

• Master’s degree in a relevant field required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification / Licensure / Registration

Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the appropriate registering body.

Qualifications and Skills

• Knowledge of : Advanced knowledge of the addictions and mental health fields is required. Comprehensive knowledge and advanced level of practice in clinical assessment and treatment models including but not limited to : therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Strength Based therapies, Addiction Disorders, Crisis Response, Case Management, Inter-professional Practice, prevention and promotion, service coordination and integration, supportive counselling, Trauma Informed Practice, Systems.

• Demonstrated understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations.
• Demonstrated ability to function within a computerized environment required.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and written in French is considered to be an asset
• Valid Manitoba’s driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Completes and maintains a satisfactory pre-employment security check.
