We are looking for a highly motivated Receptionist / Clerical Officer to work within the Radiology Department at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Working under the supervision of the Radiology Office Manager, the Receptionist will be responsible for undertaking a range of duties to ensure the provision of an efficient reception service and the accurate recording of patient information on the Trusts Radiology Information System.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills across a multi-disciplinary team and excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Working Days : Monday to Friday am to pm

Main duties of the job
To be the first point of contact for all patients / visitors to the X-Ray Department, dealing with any queries quickly and efficiently whilst ensuring excellent customer service is adhered to at all times.
To communicate effectively and efficiently with a range of multidisciplinary staff within the Radiology Departments and also within the wider hospital.
To work within a highly efficient Receptionist Team ensuring good team working is maintained at all times.
To carry out administrative tasks to assist the wider A&C team, for example, sorting and distributing post, distributing Radiology reports within the hospital, generating correspondence letters to referrers and answering telephone enquiries.

Job responsibilities
- To undertake a range of duties ensuring the provision of an efficient reception service and the accurate recording of patient information on the Trust Radiology Information System.
- To participate in all queries from patients, visitors and medical staff as a first line of contact in a clinical environment.
- The post holder will be expected to work Trust wide with varying working patterns including but not restricted to to Monday to Sunday.
- To participate in all aspects of the administration service within Radiology.
- To undertake a range of duties to ensure an accurate and efficient waiting list and bookings service is available to GP services provided by the Radiology Directorate.
- To act as a first point of contact for the GP service and co-ordinate all GP appointments and enquiries using initiative to discern between queries ensuring minimum disruption, seeking immediate response depending upon appropriate action.

Knowledge
Essential
- Educated to GCSE level, with GCSE Grade C or above in English Language or equivalent qualification / level of experience
- A good standard of grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Basic IT knowledge
- Knowledge / appreciation of data protection

- IT qualification (ECDL etc)
- NVQ level 2 qualification
Experience

- Previous experience of reception in a comparable organisation
- Experience of general office / reception procedure
- Experienced in providing a service to members of the public

- Previous NHS administration experience
- Previous RIS experience

- Effective interpersonal / communicative skills - able to relate to patients and a multidisciplinary staff
- Keyboard skills to RSA II standard or equivalent experience
