The Public Relations Officer is an individual that can communicate well with the public, is approachable while keeping a professional appearance and courteous in their daily role.
As a valued member of the team, you will provide prompt & courteous response via phone or email.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Serving as a public information liaison for notification and community relations during the execution of construction projects, developing rapport with construction teams, Clients, residents, and business owners.
- Ability to conduct visits to project sites, local residents, institutions, businesses, in order to ensure early identification of issues, such as noise, traffic interruptions, property damage, water service interruptions, and discussing with project team to expedite their resolution.
- Preparing and delivering construction notices prior to work taking place.
- Respond to phone calls within 24 hours and emails within 48 hours.
- Document all interactions with the public in a detailed Daily Report while noting the issues and their resolution, including taking photographs when possible.
Submit daily and monthly reports to clients as required.
- Report to the Contract Administrator and facilitate communications between the public, project team and Client during the construction phase of the project.
- Communicate with Client’s PM and Councilors and provide response to public or councilors inquiries within (2) business days.
- Attend meetings as required, lead the public consultation component for the project (s) and provide updates on issues and action taken to resolve.
- Distribute information promptly to all relevant team members and follow up frequently to ensure that issues are resolved as quickly as possible.
- Track contractor compliance with pre-condition survey requirements, as well as maintain a log of resident's participation in the pre-condition survey.
- Track the status of and follow up on any third-party claims and their resolution.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What your experience looks like
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in communication sector with a focus on public linear construction projects.
- Completion of post-secondary education in environmental, engineering or communications, or equivalent experience in community engagement and customer service.
- Proficient in the use of computers software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to understand construction projects, interpret technical situations and provide feedback to various stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize complaints as they arise.
- Demonstrated experience in conflict management and negotiations will be consider as an asset.
