Ideally based in Vancouver, but open to candidates elsewhere in BC or in Alberta (working PST hours).

What- the Role :

Our Client seeking a new Tax Manager . Reporting into a fantastic Director, Accounting & Finance (placed by SWIM) and managing & mentoring 2 direct reports, including a Senior Tax Analyst (also placed by SWIM).

This role involves tax planning, tax strategy, tax compliance, tax audits, for US and Canadian business operations. The role will also involve special projects related to tax and transfer pricing.

Likely some tax related M&A work in future (pre acquisition due diligence and post acquisition integration). Partnering with internal risk function on regulatory compliance and risk management.

Using Excel, a sophisticated ERP financial system, a reporting tool, and tax software. SWIM will provide interested candidates with a more detailed job description.

Who- the Candidate :

  • CPA designation is required- Canadian CPA and / or US CPA.
  • People management experience (1-2 direct reports), with excellent mentorship, coaching, and leadership abilities.
  • Canadian and / or US corporate taxation skills- experience with both is highly preferred, almost required.
  • 7+ years progressive work experience in accounting & tax.
  • Public practice training (from a midsize firm or Big 4 firm) to Manager or Senior Manager level.
  • Industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Completion or active pursuit of the in-depth tax program.
  • Hands-on process improvement and change management skills.
  • Collaborative leader who can build symbiotic relationships with colleagues at all levels and across all departments.

How Much :

Base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education, likely in the range of $118,000 to $138,000, with a sweet spot of around $125,000.

Please note that for the top end of the range, candidates will have to have all the preferred qualifications. The company will provide their new Tax Manager with a solid overall compensation package, including a generous profit-sharing / bonus program , an RSRP match, PD support, and excellent health, dental, & vision benefits.

Where :

Ideally the Tax Manager will live in Greater Vancouver, with ability to work from the downtown office 2-3 days a week. That said, we are also open to very qualified candidates living elsewhere in BC or in Alberta (working on PST hours), with visits once or twice a quarter to the corporate HQ.

The company is based in the heart of Downtown Vancouver in a beautiful corporate office.
