Job Description

• Lead the detailed design of various sizes of projects anddelegate specific tasks or scopes to other team members.
• Supervise mechanical designers and intermediatemechanical designers.
• Provide technicalguidance to clients and other project subconsultants.
• Mentor and supervise Mechanical Designers IntermediateMechanical Designers and Intermediate Mechanical Engineers andreview their work prior to submitting to Project ManagersAssociates and Principals.
• Attend design andcoordination meetings as required.
• Have astrong understanding of construction and perform construction sitereviews when required.
• Preparation ofschematic design and design development reports.
• Analyze client design proposals and specifications todetermine the most appropriate and cost effective designsolutions.
• Selection of mechanical equipmentworking with suppliers and manufacturer’srepresentatives.
• Preparation of schematicdesign design development and construction drawings.
• Preparation of either book or drawing mechanicalspecifications.
• Peer review of othercolleague’s drawings and design.
• Provide complete fully reviewed projects to ProjectManager for final review.
• Coordination ofmechanical systems and design with other disciplines.
• Determining project design and drafting hours required tocomplete a project and communicate the resources required to meetthe project deadlines to the Project Manager.
• Identify and address the need for additional services andfees to the Project Manager in a timely fashion.
• Maintain project schedules and project budgets to trackwork progress and manpower resource utilization with assistancefrom the Project Manager.
• Assist the contractadministration team with the review of shop drawings responses toRFIs design changes and associated costs.
• Strive to accomplish company goals of highqualityworkmanship and project timelines through the continual improvementof workflows and design standards.

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with aminimum of 10 years experience as a Professional Engineer : P. Eng.or PE in the jurisdiction in which they are working.
• Detailed understanding of all building systems includingarchitectural structural civil electrical and fire and how theyimpact and are impacted by the mechanical systems.

Ability tointerpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Strong knowledge of current codes and standards such asthe applicable plumbing and building codes.
• Excellent written skills and understanding of softwareprograms (Microsoft Word Bluebeam AutoCAD REVIT etc.).
• Understanding of financials as they apply to projects : Work backlog Work in progress (WIP) project costs vsbudgets.
• Ability to schedule mentor and manageproject teams of 1 to 3 people on 2 or more concurrent projectsdepending on size and complexity.
