PositionSummary :

Reporting to the Manager Student Life, the incumbentwill coordinate and be responsible for the development and delivery of co-curricularengagement, leadership development, and student staff professional developmentprogramming across the College.

The Coordinator’s work is critical in helpingto build the foundation for the development of co-curricular experientiallearning pathways through which GBC students can develop integrated humanskills and position themselves for personal, academic and professional success.

Key responsibilities :

  • Advances the work of the engageGBC special project (to the formal engageGBC co-curricular experiential learning program) including but not limited to leading the co-curricular programming community of practice, applying the human skills development framework to college co-curricular experiences, rubric and assessment plan to promote the development of human skills outside of the classroom.
  • Promotes student engagement and experiential learning opportunities that contribute to college and broader community engaged learning.
  • Serves as primary liaison with selected software vendor to ensure all programmatic needs are met, effective communication is maintained, and all deliverables are implemented on time.
  • Develops / designs, pilots, implements and evaluates leadership education programs and services, workshops, using curriculum with a peer education and experiential / reflective learning model.
  • Stays current in best practices for leadership education, experiential learning, and student engagement.
  • Builds supportive relationships and engages students by providing coaching and leadership development opportunities.
  • Coordinates with divisional staff on marketing and communication strategies, including but not limited to the use of social media, college wide digital signage, newsletters, and emails.
  • Research and evaluates best practices and applicability of Co-Curricular, Leadership, and Student Staff Development programming from other post-secondary institutions, communities of practice, and literature.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational andExperience Requirements :

Three-year diploma or degree equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Education, Psychology, Public Relations, Social Work, Human Development, Leadership Theory / Student Development Theory.

A strong understanding of program design and evaluation.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated ability and proven success within the field of student services / student affairs at a post-secondary institution designing co-curricular learning, coordinating student transition programming, or designing leadership development for students.
  • Experience, and demonstrated effectiveness, in developing, implementing and evaluating student programs and training modules.
  • Experience with data gathering and analysis.
  • Experience developing, delivering and evaluating workshops.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Skills and Attributes :

  • Excellent presentation and supervisory skills.
  • Solid understanding of various computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, databases.
  • Awareness of best practice in the field.
  • Knowledge of theories of instructional design and delivery.
  • Knowledge of student and leadership development theory.
  • Ability to lift between 20 kg and 44 lbs (, event materials, etc.).
  • Able to travel between the three main campuses on a monthly basis.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.

The College requires proof of degrees, credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and / or their international equivalents.

Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews or offer.
