Why is this role important?

Reporting to the Manager of Learning, People Performance, and Engagement, the Learning & People Development Specialist will be responsible for planning, designing and delivering specialized and curated HR programs and associated tools and resources that enhance employee learning, performance, and engagement across the organization.

The specialist will guide the Learning & People Development Coordinator and work collaboratively with various team members in the People, Culture and Learning Branch supporting leaders and employees and overall organizational effectiveness, in alignment with CIHI's strategic goals and values.

What you'll do

1. Deliver on learning, performance and engagement strategies to support and enable employee growth and organizational effectiveness.

2. Design, deliver and facilitate (as necessary) training programs, both virtual and in-person, that enhance employee and leadership skills, capabilities, and career development, including active collaboration with facilitators and instructional designers from external training vendors / service providers / academic institutions.

3. Implement performance management frameworks, resources and tools that drive development, accountability, feedback, and continuous improvement.

4. Facilitate the delivery of employee engagement strategies and programs to foster a high-performance, engaged, positive and inclusive workplace culture e.

g. employee communications, employee recognition month, team building / leadership retreats, psychometric workplace assessments, mentorship, and various internal knowledge-sharing forums.

5. Support consultations with senior leaders and subject matter specialists to identify employee and organizational needs and tailor programs accordingly.

6. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and modify them to meet changing business needs and priorities; analyze people data to identify trends and generate insights to co-develop action plans

7. Utilize a HR information system / learning management system to track and manage employee information and program-related data / analytics.

8. Support ongoing development and sustainment of program policies / procedures, and proactive practice of efficiency and continuous improvement to processes.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in human resources, organizational development, business administration, psychology / social sciences or a related field.
  • CHRP or related learning / training / organizational development designation or active / intended pursuit of related designation preferred.
  • Proven experience of 3-5 years focused in HR areas of learning and development, performance management, and / or employee engagement.
  • Strong understanding of talent management / development strategies, processes and solutions, and general adult learning principles.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, facilitation of workshops, etc. that align with business goals.
  • Experience in project / program management, program evaluation and employee communications.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and organization skills, with the ability to consult with and influence team members and internal clients.
  • Proficiency and / or aptitude in using HR software, learning management systems, and / or talent development / performance tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills for identifying business needs and ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Fluency in English required, bilingualism in both official languages (English and French) is an asset
  • Occasional travel may be required
