What do you offer

Reporting to the Controller the Payroll & Finance Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and serves as a key contributor to the organizations finance operations supporting accounts payable accounts receivable and general accounting functions. This position ensures financial accuracy through regular reconciliations transaction processing and issue resolution and works closely with internal business units to support efficient financial operations.

This role is structured as 50% Payroll support and 50% General Finance support.

Some of the tasks of this position include :

  • Processing payroll accurately and efficiently in compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Supporting accounts payable accounts receivable and general accounting functions.
  • Ensures accuracy through regular reconciliations transaction processing and issue resolution.
  • Preparing reviewing and posting reconciliation journal entries for payroll revenue and assigned accounting areas.
  • Analyzing and resolving variances between payroll records accounting data payment processor reports and bank statements.
  • Completing bank reconciliations and month-end reporting for multiple accounts.
  • What qualifications and abilities are we looking for

    The successful candidate will have the following :

    Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Language

  • Fluent in English oral and written
  • Experience Skills and Abilities

  • 3 to 5 years experience in an accounting role including payroll processing
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with third-party payment processors and online banking systems
  • Experience with Great Plains account software is considered an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong judgement and critical thinking skills
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check not more than 6 months old is Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Annually staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
