Position Overview :
Brock Canada is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our estimating team. The EIT will be responsible for accurately calculating the total costs associated with tendering scopes of work in the Industrial sector.
They are required to compile estimates of how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with products or services.
They will work out how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly. They must be able to determine the material, labour, and equipment required, and analyze quotes from suppliers and in some cases, sub-contractors.
This is an entry level Engineer-in-Training role and the incumbent will work under the supervision of an Engineer to work towards a Professional Engineer designation.
The position is located at the Nisku, AB head office. Business hours are 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions :
- Production of all relevant documentation in adherence with company procedures.
- An ability to interpret detailed scopes of work, drawings, and specifications.
- Travel to operational sites for surveys and meetings.
- Consulting with company managers, supervisors, and foremen, as well as clients.
- Provision of guidance, advice, and technical support to management and supervisors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines.
- Interacts with field / site management and corporate / functional management.
- Interpret and understand client requirements.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction.
- The ability to problem-solve, organize, and prioritize to deliver within a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Professional and concise communication in written and verbal form.
- Excels at operating in a fast pace and diverse environment.
