To act as a personal representative of thehotel by providing guests with the service that reflects the highstandards of the Fairmont Royal York.

Overall dining experience isessential therefore you the server must have a thoroughunderstanding of the operation the menus including the wine menu ala carte menus and all other promotional menus in order tosuggestively upsell benefiting the hotel its shareholders andyourself.

  • To report to duty punctuallyin order to maintain the integrity of coworkers andguests
  • To consistently offer personal friendlyand efficient service
  • To clear all dishes todeliver meals and to present cheques in a professional and discreetmanner
  • To have full knowledge of the menubeverage lists in your outlet and all other special promotionstaking place in the hotel
  • To take correctiveaction when dealing with dissatisfied guests as the main goal is tohave the guest leave happy
  • To be knowledgeableof all menu items their garnishes contents and preparation methods.To be prepared to answer any guest questions about menu items in adirect and concise way
  • To maintain teamwork andgood work ethics with all guests (internal and external) byassisting coworkers with any duties without compromising the guestsdining experience
  • To understand shift endreports have knowledge of noncash / cash transactions and proceduresfor depositing monies into safe or collecting duebacks
  • To have read and understood all hotelpolicies and procedures and departmental standards as outlined inthe employee handbook
  • To understand the concepthours of operation procedures for order taking writing reservationstable setting and guest service standards of therestaurant
  • To be aware of safety and sanitationwhen handling food and beverage
  • To understandeach work section and all side duties that may be assigned toyou
  • Attend preshift weekly and monthly meetingsto ensure open lines of communication between allemployees
  • To fully understand and follow thehotels recycling program andprocedures
  • Immediately report any accidentsthat happen (regarding a guest a coworker or yourself) to yourmanager
  • To express your concerns suggestions orcomments on how to improve the guests experience or ways to improvethe operation as a whole
  • To understand how tooperate all the equipment used in the outlet
  • Tounderstand all other outlets services and offices in the hotel(location hours of operation andofferings)

  • Availableto work breakfast and lunch service
  • Previouswork experience in a restaurant / food and beveragesetting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ateam player attitude
  • Smart Serve trainingprogram certification
  • Must be age of majorityto serve alcoholic beverages
  • OTEC certificatean asset

PhysicalAspects of Position include but are not limited to thefollowing :

  • Constantstanding and walking throughout shift
  • Frequentlifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Constantkneeling pushing pulling lifting
  • Frequentascending or descending ladders stairs andramps
