Position Summary :

The Vice President, Logistics reports to the Senior Vice President, Supply Chain, and is responsible for warehousing and shipping Sofina products to customers in Canada and Internationally and leading and building the Logistics team to achieve the company’s objectives for this critical function.

The Vice President, Logistics is responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance in a fast paced complex environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the overall capability and effectiveness of the distribution and transportation function across the organization and provide guidance and support to the Director, Distribution and Transportation to continue transformation and optimal performance of warehousing and freight management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team including assessing and addressing gaps in skills and knowledge and ensuring technical skills required
  • Sofina Warehouses Responsible for the effective operation of Sofina’s warehouses ensuring inventory accuracy and efficient operation
  • 3rd Party Warehouses Responsible for agreements and coordination of approximately 13 external warehouses that store and ship Sofina product.

Responsible to achieve the best service and cost

  • Shipping Departments Indirect responsibility for Sofina’s shipping departments at 20 sites : Sharing best practices, resolving process issues and implementing improvements and SOPs
  • Asset Management responsible to track, replace and support the maintenance of all material handling equipment in plans as well as Sofina owned trucks and trailers
  • Transportation Responsible for $70MM dollars of freight costs annually, regular negotiations with service providers and constant work with the transportation team to consolidate shipments and maximize the use of each shipment to minimize the per kilogram cost of freight for Sofina
  • Responsible for supporting ERP implementation and Warehouse Management Systems(inventory control).

Requirements :

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, business, management or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Supply Chain profession.
  • Exemplary skills in planning, negotiation, and communication both oral and written.
  • Outstanding communication skills, strong interpersonal skills & negotiation skills

  • Proactive; able to take the initiative and operate independently
  • Proven ability to achieve challenging goals and objectives
