As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles.

The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Objective :

Implement Configuration Management and Change Control for Signaling Projects, Products and Programs as a member of core teams and lead subordinate Configuration and Change Management team members on the project :

  • Direct, monitor, and measure the activites of the overall project CCM team
  • Keep the configuration under control during the whole life-cycle of the project, product or program
  • Manage the change process in the project and ensure configuration is formalized and adequate at any time to deliver the configuration and change documentation to the internal or external Customer

Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

Perform the following Configuration Management and Change Control activities for assigned projects, products and programs, assisting other team members as required :

  • Ensure application of Alstom configuration and change management procedures and instructions
  • Follow any other related Alstom processes as required
  • Demonstrate ownership of the role for assigned projects, products, and programs; respond to priorities or urgencies
  • Write and maintain the configuration and change management plan with PM and technical lead(s), to implement the configuration and change management process and address contractual configuration management requirements
  • Organize and update the configuration and change databases for assigned projects, products and programs
  • Organize and manage the project, product or program evolutions through change activities
  • Set up, plan and organize the Change Control Board meetings : View the Change Requests (CR) Verify that the changes are well documented Document CCB decisions Establish the CCB Minutes of Meeting
  • Track the scheduled versions for configuration changes (projected date of change application such as retrofits)
  • Coordinate the project, product or program team members regarding configuration and changes
  • Create and Manage project, product, and program baselines with technical leads, following established Alstom processes : Configuration item identification Baseline definition, creation, review, and freeze Ensure interfaces with sub-systems Support technical lead with baseline integration
  • Create and maintain serialable product for products and programs in the configuration management tool
  • Receive and implement product breakdown structures in the configuration management tool
  • Receive, manage, and maintain configuration item lists of serialized products for projects in the configuration management tool, from the data received from other departments
  • Issue configuration & change management and related KPIs
  • Ensure rigorous traceability and reporting
  • Provide REX (Return on Experience) on methods & tools and share best practices with the global Engineering community
  • Coordinate workload of all subsystems including the coordination of Configuration Control Managers

Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Engineering BS degree, or related technical discipline
  • Experience leading / managing functional or project teams
  • Minimum 3 years of Configuration Management experience (10 year minimum if no BS degree)
  • Solid technology background
  • Good communication skills oral and written
  • Systematic, rigorous, and organized, able to sort out different matters concurrently
  • Microsoft Office competent

Desired Characteristics :

  • CMMI Certification
  • Good knowledge of Railway Signaling products and systems
