Manager, Systems Engineering
The Manager, Systems Engineering will establish and lead the Systems Engineering capability at Gastops, ensuring the effective integration of complex hardware, software, and analytical systems into cohesive, high-performing products. This role defines the framework, tools, and best practices that enable cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver technically sound, safe, and customer‑focused solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Establish the Systems Engineering discipline within Gastops, including defining processes, methodologies, and governance aligned with industry standards (e.g., INCOSE, ISO / IEC 15288).
- Develop and lead a team of systems engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee system architecture definition, requirements engineering, verification and validation, and interface management across projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure system‑level integrity, traceability, and design intent are maintained from concept to delivery.
- Provide technical leadership on system design trade‑offs, risk management, and configuration control.
- Support business development by contributing to proposals, defining system solutions, and articulating technical strategies to customers and partners.
- Mentor and coach engineers to develop systems thinking and lifecycle awareness across the organization.
- Represent Systems Engineering in corporate governance, design reviews, and product qualification activities.
Who You Are
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Eligibility for, or registration as, a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.8+ years of engineering experience, including significant exposure to system integration and product development.Proven experience in leading systems engineering activities or establishing SE frameworks in a complex technical environment.Deep understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, architecture design, risk management, and validation.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines and levels.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.Personify the Gastops values of Commitment, Collaboration, Respect and Inclusion, Innovation, and Community, setting a high standard for peers and team members.Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and a commitment to high standards of engineering practice and behaviours.Solution‑oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.Commitment to mentoring and developing others.What We Offer You
