Chief Conservation Officer (CCO), Conservation About the Company Prominent environmental conservation organization Industry Non-Profit Organization Management Type Government Agency Founded 1967 Employees 51-200 Categories - Non-Profit & Philanthropy About the Role The Company is seeking a Chief Conservation Officer (CCO) to lead its ambitious conservation goals and provide strategic vision in the face of emerging conservation threats and opportunities. The CCO will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of a high-impact conservation strategy that aims to enhance biodiversity, ecological resilience, and reduce the impact of climatic disruptions. This role requires a leader with a minimum of 15 years' experience in conservation, including over 8 years in leadership, and a deep understanding of various conservation facets. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with Indigenous leaders and communities, particularly in the context of Indigenous-led conservation priorities. Key responsibilities for the CCO include overseeing a culture of accountability for measurable outcomes, providing guidance on conservation opportunities, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative team. The role demands exceptional problem-solving and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a global network model. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in team management, a strong background in conservation, and a commitment to the core values of courage, integrity, respect, and collaboration. While not mandatory, proficiency in a language relevant to the areas where the company operates is considered an asset. The CCO will be expected to travel nationally and occasionally internationally, and a commitment to diversity and accessibility is integral to the recruitment process.
