POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager the successful candidate will demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge related to assessment planning implementing and evaluating nursing care for patients and families in Oncology Hematology & keeping with the mission and value statements of the hospital they will also:

  • Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario the Hospital and the Oncology PSU;

  • Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote recovery and wellness;

  • Is accountable for maintaining competence and developing expertise in the quality of his/her professional practice;

  • Effectively uses interpersonal communication and collaborative skills to facilitate a team environment;

  • Participates in Quality Improvement and Research opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)

  • Current Ontario Registration with the CNO (Essential)

  • Current BCLS certificate (Essential)

  • Two (2) year paediatric experience (Preferred)

  • 6 months of Hematology & Oncology experience (Preferred)

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (Preferred)

  • APHON certification (Preferred)

  • Bilingual (English/French) (Preferred)

Effective March 29 2021 CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test practical exam or other assessment.
