Job DescriptionLocation: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid Role - Home/Office)Company: An award-winning architectural practice with a history spanning over 80 years, specializing in institutional architectural services across Canada and internationally. We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer with a demonstrated track record in working on correctional facilities, along with experience in healthcare and laboratories/laboratories as a valuable asset, to join our Ottawa office. This is a hybrid role that combines your expertise in interior design with a focus on correctional facilities while also drawing upon your knowledge in healthcare and laboratory design. You'll have the flexibility to work both from home and the office.
Responsibilities:Correctional Facility Expertise: Leverage your extensive experience in designing correctional facilities to develop interior design concepts that prioritize safety, functionality, and rehabilitation.Healthcare and Laboratory Design: Apply your knowledge of healthcare and laboratory design principles to enhance projects where relevant.Design Excellence: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create interior design solutions that align with the company's reputation for excellence and innovation.Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and translating them into interior design strategies.Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all interior designs meet relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, with a focus on security and human-centered design principles.Project Management: Oversee interior design projects from conception to completion, including budget management and project timelines.Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior designers while fostering a collaborative and creative working environment.Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional interior design experience, with a focus on correctional facilities, along with experience in healthcare and laboratories/laboratories.Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or a related field.Certification: Professional interior design certification (e.g., NCIDQ) preferred.Software Proficiency: Proficient in Revit and other industry-standard design software.Creativity: Strong creative and conceptual thinking skills with a keen eye for detail.Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.Client-Focused: A commitment to understanding and exceeding client expectations.Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing relevant interior design projects, highlighting your expertise in correctional facilities, healthcare, and laboratory design.If you are a talented Senior Interior Designer with a passion for creating innovative and practical interior spaces for correctional facilities, healthcare, and laboratories, we encourage you to apply.
