About The Opportunity

Working as an integral part of the Yúustway Health and Wellness Department reporting to the Manager, Community Health & Wellness Division, under Yuustway Health and Wellness Department.

The Harm Reduction & Overdose Prevention Lead is a valued member of our community-based interdisciplinary health and wellness team.

The Harm Reduction & Overdose Prevention Lead supervises and acts as an onsite lead resource for Squamish People, peer support workers and healthcare providers by providing guidance and support in the delivery of high-quality services and programs.

Assists clients in supervised consumption as part of harm reduction. Performs a variety of duties in the operation of the OPS including communications, maintenance, safety management, mobile site logistics, maintaining workflows, and collecting / submitting data.

Supervises peer support workers, coordinates and co-facilitates Peer orientation and ongoing training, identifies opportunities for skill enhancement, and provides Peer-based mentoring, leadership skills development and support to Peers working at OPS or withing the community.

Promotes a safe, healthy environment that instills a sense of dignity and self-respect for all peer workers and Squamish People.

The position supports the Manager by attending partner meetings relevant to harm reduction, overdose prevention and substance use.

This position provides leadership in the delivery of harm reduction, overdose prevention, peer support, and safe use approaches with a healing framework that demonstrates support in addressing root causes of substance misuse behavior, and services within the Squamish Nation community which includes communities on the North Shore and Squamish Valley.

This role will be required to develop and maintain databases for the purpose of reporting using Mustimuhw Information System (MIS) and external partner reporting templates.

  • Understanding of quality assurance processes and ability to educate staff on quality improvement changes related to scheduling.
  • Strong communication skills to accurately convey important information over the phone, in person, or via email to patients and medical staff.
  • Ability to quickly resolve scheduling and logistics conflicts.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening skills with both clients and staff, ensuring sound, empathetic, and culturally safe communications.
  • Acts ethically and with the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, approachable attitude.

Salary : $ 76,499 - $ 85,634 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program
